hiding behind the facade you put on everyday
just like the clothes on your back.
Your smile is broken, and
I see the tears that hide behind
your sorrow-filled eyes, though
you try to look like you're having fun.
I know you are hiding,
from your past, from your feelings:
from yourself. And in doing so-
are hiding yourself from everyone
who cares about you.
You're hiding yourself from me-
and I want you to know:
I will protect you,
shelter you from all you have seen.
I will catch you when you fall
and give you back your tears.
And when you scream in pain-
remembered from your past,
I will be there to whisper softly in your ear
that I love you.
