smoke rising from the embers
of the red rose burned black.
only a shadow of the flame
that was once there, but burned out
so quickly, leaving only memories...
skin stretches tight over bones,
a fake smile mutes sad screams.
the toilet flushes dreams down the drain,
while gauntlets and long sleeves cover the past.
paranoia flits through my brain,
as emotions rage inside of me.
tears cower behind shady eyes,
imperfection hides behind the flawless shell.
my core is rotten- deteriorating.
the mascara-filled tears nourish the weed-
my insanity is a dandelion in a field of oleander.
demons in torn faerie wings and fading halos
reach out to me with clawed fingertips.
i'm so alone- i want to play a game of
hide-and-seek and retreat from society.
Persephone finds me and i look into her face:
I was reflected in her eyes. I was reflected...
...in her eyes.
Things long forgotten haunt me-
Thorn, Skye, Echo, Green, Ash, Ember.
Singing to me their entrancing melodies.
Watching the fruit fall from
the ground to the tree, and
grow from a peach to a bud.
It's all cherries and pasta now.
You dig your grave and
weep crimson tears into your coffin.
Little Bunny Foo-Foo coaxing you
to burn the green grass grey, and
float with their ashes to your eternal slumber.
AIM screen flashing a message-
'to go is to come' but all that is there
are blinking words typed by an
unknown hand.
Blueberry muffins line the
rose-covered bed. a rose thorn
stabs the satin pillow. our hands,
entwined, hit the sheets together,
but you fade to another wisp of mist
in the fog. i wish you didn't weep.
frolicking limericks lick fickle teeth.
tongues twisting in tandem,
tasting blood.
if you ever leave the sunset
and cease your weeping of the rain
i can give you back your tears
and they will cascade into the ocean
as salt droplets undistinguishable
from the sea.
